Why philanthropy is a catalyst for protecting our planet

The World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos has frequently addressed the importance of philanthropy in protecting the planet. Philanthropy can play a vital role in addressing environmental issues by funding research, promoting sustainable development, and supporting advocacy and grassroots movements. In addition, philanthropy can catalyze change by encouraging collaboration between stakeholders such as governments, businesses, and civil society organizations.

For example, at the 2019 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, a panel discussion titled “Philanthropy and the Fourth Industrial Revolution” addressed the role of philanthropy in addressing climate change and environmental issues. The panelists discussed how philanthropy can fund innovative solutions and support local communities to take action.
